PHOTO 2704
Caption: Guy named Rocky and Carlos Molina drinking Coca Cola - somewhere way to the North and West of Chu Lai TAOR. I think this patrol was the furthest North and furthest West that 9th Engineers ever went. This was a two day three night combined patrol with the local Swelf-Defense Force. The purpose was to let any VC see us out of our comfort zone. We had only done patrols around our area and this was to make them think something bigger was going on. It was the only time that this had been done. A week later, Delta bagged three KIA in the regular area patrol. The Bad guys had ID's that showed they were with a light arty team.I remember the hand weapons captured were put up on the Club Wall. Carlos was the back up communications person and a damn good spotter.
